Install Private Home Theater

In Home Theater Planning - Installation

Even if you have the most high-tech equipment for your home theater system, it’s only as good as the way it’s set up. The excitement of receiving all the equipment needed for your home theater can quickly turn south when we realize the set-up and assembly needed. There are a few different things you can do to prepare your room for the set-up of the home theater before you receive all of the equipment to make the installation go as smoothly as possible. Remember that you chose all the aspects of your home theater, and paid for it as well, so enjoying it is a must!

Things to Keep in Mind when Installing a Home Theater Systems

  • Plan for the setup of your home theater system before receiving all of the components. Use one of the many software programs that aid you in mapping out the placement of your home theater to find the best placement for your space.
  • A bright and sunny room that has a lot of windows will probably not be the best option for a projection home theater TV. If that is the only option, or the best choice, you may want to consider using drapes, blinds or shutters.
  • Decide how the surround system wiring is going to be installed and placed for your home theater. Placing the wires under carpeting and across open areas is not a good idea. It’s important to map out the placement of your speaker system so the wiring can run along baseboards of walls. Wireless systems are nice for home theaters, but they aren’t yet quite up to the level of quality as the standard systems are.
  • If you have large speakers, are you going to use stands, or leave them free-standing? Will they be out of the way? Will you need wall mounts? If you do use wall mounts, be sure that they can handle the weight of the speakers, usually about 15% more than the speaker weight will be sufficient.
  • Do you have an entertainment center ready to house all of the equipment of the home theater system that is attractive, safe and easily accessible? Wall units can be nice but they can sometimes limit the accessibility to the back of the equipment.
  • The most important thing is that you take your time planning and figuring out the optimal setup of your home theater, so you can enjoy it for years to come in the future.
